The Open button bypasses the checks and runs the installer. That shows the same dialog, but this time with Open and Cancel buttons.

New software should be signed by the developer, but you can still install older software by right-clicking (Ctrl-clicking) on the application and selecting Open from the menu. If you’ve used 10.7 or later, you may have seen this unidentified developer error message before. “Lightroom can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer” That’s fixed in Lightroom 5.2 (second screenshot) and doesn’t affect usability in earlier versions. In earlier versions of Lightroom, the sliders render slightly different and the colored white balance sliders don’t show their colors correctly (shown in the first screenshot). Lightroom 5.2 has already been tested and updated for Mavericks, although it’s always possible that additional bugs will be found once more people are using it.Įarlier versions should work, although there are a couple of known issues: Yesterday Apple released OS 10.9 Mavericks at a great price – it’s free!
